Tambora VS Vesuvius

Do you know about the eruption of Vesuvius mountain in 79 a.d..? that eruption was destroying the town of Pompeii, the lost city in Rome for along 1600 years. The eruption killed people in that town on a time, evidence of archaeology remains showed that people killed on around dining table, and other evidences support were founded.

In fact, not only Visuvius, in Dompu has also super eruption that is Mt. Tambora.

In the year 1815, mount Tambora erupted, and thunder-light sounds were heard until Makasar, Batavia, Ternate, and even Sumatra that the distance around 2600 km away from Tambora. The eruption triggered volcanic quake over than 7 SR.

Due to the super-eruption of Mt. Tambora, most of Indonesian beach had been attacked by big Tsunami, it took place on 10 of April, the wave height over than 4 m in Anggar at 10 PM. Another big Tsunami was also occurred with 1 – 2 m in Besuki – East Java before midnight, and Tsunami 2m in Maluku. The eruption smoke reached Stratosfer, with the altitude more than 43 km. The ash-rain occurred within 2 week post of eruption, but, the ash particles still remained at atmosphere for months or even a year on altitude 10 – 30 km. The horizontal wind blow made the particles spread up around the world, and its triggering phenomenon occurred. The colourful sunset, and twilight seen in London between 28 June, and 2 July 1815 and 3 September, and 7 October 1815. Red or orange ray spotted at dusk near the horizon with violet or pink spot above.

That eruption has considered destroying small sultanate in the feet of Mt. Tambora. The eruption was very big, its bigger than Mt. Vesuvius eruption.

Eruption of Mt. Tambora is the biggest on history

The eruption of Mt. Tambora is one from the 100 of big disaster in history. The eruption that occurred on 11 April 1815 has affected until 2 years onward of spring 1817. That disaster caused 150.000 people killed. Uncountable material lost since the rice field destroyed then followed with other disaster triggered by it.

Based on science, this is a normal disaster, but, the people who believed Mythos said that the disaster occurred since the God was angry to Tambora people. What a strange, from the summit of Tambora Mountain was ejected three separate fire ball culminate in very high. The entire summit slowly covered-up by stromboli. Spreading widely, one of them, the fire ball dimension like human-head was fallen within few kilometers coverage area, and the splinter of particles spread up to atmosphere causing global darkness. The ash was ejected in large number, made massive total darkness in Java, which lied 310 mile (500km) away from Mt. Tambora. “The ash causing total dark on the day time, covered the land with the form of few inch layer,” said Stamford Raffles , General Governor of Java, write by Stephen J. Spignesi, in his book that translated by Bonifasius Sindyarta, S.Psi, with the title; Top 100 of the biggest disaster in the history.

The Mountains has condensed

Every one think that Mt. Tambora was gone. But, the fact is not like that. On the 5th of April 1815, Goliath with the high 13.000 feet (3.960) woke up. They elicit light thunder as tough he want to show his existing, heard from thousands miles. For along 5 days, this mountain ejecting ash material that can afford to destroy all building in Java. The ash was very thick, its can not be penetrated by sun-shine. The people who live in this island can not see anything on what they were facing off. On the date 10th of April, the eruption on the top show, the giant fire-ball grabbed each other and linked on the summit of blazing mountain.

This happen followed by tornado storm that seems like phenomenon of fire storm – fire tornado that is formed from big forestry firing. Just like a sucking machine, this riot swept out the people, animals and houses that flew away in the sky. Life creatures can be pieces and burned up. Anything destroyed and became uncountable pieces.

The Tambora eruption exceeds the power limit of the mount and island to. The previous altitude was 13.000 feet, now condensed, become 9.000 feet (2.740m). Ironically, the island level increased once the ash particles accumulated in few centimeters. The depth of ash was 3 feet (90 cm), and it sucked off water around Sumbawa – and proceeded to finish the destroying creation of Tambora against human being on a long impact range. The ash has killed entire plantations and followed by the hunger and cholera epidemic make people death. It increased steadily became 80.000 people. 12.000 people were killed once Tambora erupted.

The year without summer

One of the volcano eruption observer predicted, if the ash that has ejected from this giant volcano spread throughout all direction, so, it will be possibly to cover the whole German country. Most of ash not fallen to the ground, but they remains on the atmosphere, then they blowing by the wind goes around the world. That’s a big dark cloud triggering earth temperature goes down.  And it caused destruction of summer yellow paddy in Europe and England. In June, the temperature dropped below normal which also had contributed of destruction. The farmer fed their livestock with the corn, in order to keep their livestock alive. At Switzerland, hunger people ate wild cat and dog. And the farmer in New York dug their potatoes plantation even it was not to time on harvest season since they should gave enough meal to their family’s members. Frozen misty on strange summer has destructed the paddy field soon after they planted. People started hunt raccoon and pigeon for eats. Hunger and illness was predicted as the main trigger of the death that might reach around 50.000 people on totally death victims caused Tambora eruption. No one understood the relation between the year without summer and volcano eruption that lied thousands miles away and erupted hundreds days ago on the past then. Even though they knew it, but, the farmer on the century of XIX seemed not to believe it. Now, the story of Mt. Tambora’s not as incredible as just like the eruption in the past.
