Bad weather, hiking for Mt. Merbabu being closed PDF Print E-mail

Hiking track at Mt. Merbabu, central Java, will be temporary restricted until March. Bad weather and rain storm become main reasons.

Section head of Merbabu National park district II Anggit Haryoso said that thick fog is become a trigger for the limitation of our vision. The vision distance might be 10 – 20 meter.

In generally, the weather is not so friendly and quite dangerous for hiking activities, said Anggi to the press, Wednesday (25/2/2009).

There will be 4 entrance gates to the hiking track. Which can be accessed through from the gate at Kenalan – Pakis, Magelang regency, and via Selo district, Boyolali regency. Another two gates located at Kopeng, Semarang regency.

The closing of mt. Merbabu hiking track has been since 4 February 2009. In normal condition usually there will be 2 or 3 group hikers in a week, consisting of 10 – 15 people each group.
