The mountain of anak kelud is active again. The surface of mt. kelud crater that covered up by magma dome (anak kelud) recently sprayed out poisonous gas.

White black brown smoke sprayed out of the dome over 100 meters around. This poisonous smoke contains sulphuric gas substances.  The area of the mountain about 250mt around is declared restricted and temporary closed for public.

“Kepala Badan Kesatuan Bangsa Politik dan Perlindungan Masyarakat” (Bakesbanglinmas) the government of blitar regency, Mr. Agus Promono claimed, beside the poison gases, the temperature of the mountain has also increased 75 up to 89,9 degree Celsius. It causes water temperature at around of river Bladak getting heat.

This information is presented by Mr. Khoirul , the Head of Pusat Volkanologi dan Mitigasi Bencana Geologi Pos Pengamatan Gunung Kelud Kediri.” Accordance to our data, the symptom of mount kelud began on early January 2009. They spray out poison smoke and spread over the surrounding area. That is why this location now is temporary being closed for public and only for restricted visit purposes”, claim Mr. Khoirul to press, on Friday, February 6^th 2009.

Recently, the data of seismic being recorded in seismograph PS.2 showed, mt Kelud hd caused 5 times volcanic depth quakes, 17 times volcanic short quakes, 13 times blow quakes, 12 times deciduous quakes, 10 times tremor quakes, 146 times long tectonic quakes, 8 times local tectonic quakes, and 94 times low frequency quakes.

From the quake data released by observatory team, the poisonous gas is potentially spreads up, but in generally mt. Kelud status will be still on an attentive stage.

There will be 3 districts with 21 villages in the region of Blitar on first alert status. They are Gandursari district with 9 villages, Garum district with 5 villages, and Nglegok district with 7 villages.

Total people on 3 districts and 21 villages are 80.510. Government warn to all the people not to be panic in facing this condition. They also ask to the people to do their activities as usual.
